Be Like Me Says He

Published on Aug 10, 2022

Ephesians 5:1-2 – Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

When life throws you a curve ball

Excruciating pain of the loss of a loved one is an unbearable constant

When suffering overwhelms, even seems to consume you

What do you do?

Be like Me says He who wept at the tomb of His friend

And know that He understands your pain and loves you anyways

When challenges of life seem to pile up against you

People don’t understand and conflict meets you at every corner

When people you have served, turn against you, the hurt is real

What do you do?

Be like Me says He, who knew loneliness

Betrayed by His closest friends, He chose to loved them anyways

Be like me says He who sets us a divine example

Urging us to grow in His likeness

Be like Me says He, the Creator, the Holy One

Who knew no sin, but suffered, bled and died

To save you and me from death, eternal

Be like Me says He who loves as the Gentle Shepherd

Who laid down His life for each of His sheep

Be like Me says He the Prince of peace, who reviled by His own

Yet humbled Himself, quietly bore it all

That you and I may be with Him, in eternity

To be like Him is to love the unlovable

To be like Him is to be choose to submit in humility

To be like Him is to choose peace in conflict

To be like Him is to choose faith over fear

While resting in Him who does work all things together

As we in His likeness grow, whose call to us is ‘Be like Me!’
