10. Jesus the High Priest

SERIES: 31 REASONS TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS

Hebrews 2:17-18
Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

We celebrate Christmas because we celebrate Jesus

  • who became like us to become our High Priest
  • because if Jesus were not like us He could not be our High Priest, representing us before the Father and making atonement (propitiation) for our sins.
  • as our High Priest wears His wounds, as an eloquent testimony to His heart for us.

Lord Jesus, thank you for in your love choosing to become like me to represent me before the Father and for atoning my sin.
May my every action and word reflect my ever grateful heart to you, my High Priest.
