My Lighthouse

Psalm 34:18 – The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

When pain is ever near, and I just want to give up

When there seems to be no hope anywhere I turn

Lord though I don’t always acknowledge you

I know you are ever near, full of love and concern.

When loneliness engulfs my soul,

Even though friends and family do surround

Strange though it be Lord, You alone do understand

This emptiness, deep, deep within me.

When the future seems gloomy and bleak

And the will to go on seems to increasingly retreat

Lord help me to cling to you in faith and surrender

With my eyes fixed on you, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Help me Lord, to choose to rest in you,

My anchor and my hope. In the midst of despair

As dark and stormy waters I tread

May my gaze forever be on You, O Lighthouse of my soul!
