All Israel was listed in the genealogies recorded in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. They were taken captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness. – 1 Chronicles 9:1
God disciplines those He loves. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE
The first eight chapters of Chronicles gives a detailed account of Israel, by name. This is a small but powerful statement. Judah was taken captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness. Not because of the clash of kingdoms that doomed the kingdom of Judah. It was simply because of their own unfaithfulness. If they had remained faithful, God would have protected them through the rise and fall of many empires and kingdoms.
We have all experienced the discipline of our parents. At times, it may not be pleasant memories and yet we accept that discipline has taught us important values and life lessons which we use even today. Parents are called to train their children and teach them life values. Often discipline may be unpleasant, but that does not keep responsible parents from disciplining children from a place of love until they learn and change their ways.
We often have questions about God who punishes His people. About how He, used even pagan kings to discipline His children. But God is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in love and faithfulness (Psalm 86:15). And yet, God disciplines his children from a place of love. Do not make light of God’s discipline and do not lose heart when He rebukes you (Hebrews 12:5).
What is God trying to teach you through the difficult experience you are going through?
Lord, help me learn quickly, to turn to you, I pray.
