Isaiah 9:6-7
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
We celebrate Christmas because we celebrate King Jesus who gave us a glimpse of what His government will look like:
- while leaders today surround themselves with servants, Jesus our Servant King set an example by washing the feet of His disciples
- unlike politicians of this day who seek to gain from you, Jesus actively looked out for the needs of those around Him when He walked the earth
- in today’s world, the greater the leader the more inaccessible, while Jesus was Immanuel – ‘God with us’
Thank you, King Jesus for your government which is alive and working in our world today. May all I do and say this season encourage many to choose to be governed by you.
