Then Job replied to the Lord: I know that You can do all things; no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.

Job 42:1-2

Satan is out of the picture.   | WATCH ON YOUTUBE

The book of Job began with a focus on three beings, God, Satan, and Job. Now by the end of the book, Satan is nowhere in the picture. Just God and Job. And as Job begins to see how God is working out in His vast cosmic plans and what He is making possible through Job’s suffering, he has no more questions.

The book of Job closes with an amazing view of God, the One of incredible wisdom. The One who puts things together way beyond our greatest dreams and imagination. A God who is working out incredible plans and purposes that will bring us immense delight and joy, if we are willing to wait for His purposes in His time.

In time, the Bible says, the Lord restored Job’s fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before (v10). And Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. Job died an old man full of years (v16-17).

Pain is often God’s megaphone to draw our attention to our loving and gracious Lord.

Job went through a lot of pain and suffering. But he trusted God and remained faithful to Him through it all. And so, he came through the whole experience richer and stronger.

Is God trying to draw your attention to Him through a painful situation in your life? Would you, like Job choose to trust Him, even when you don’t always understand?

Lord, help me trust you, especially through the painful situations of my life, I pray.
