But it was your own eyes that saw all these great things the Lord has done. – Deuteronomy 11:7

The people of Israel have seen and experienced first-hand. God’s provision, God’s protection and God’s discipline too. Moses is reminding them it was not their children, but they, who had seen God do the wonderful signs and wonders.

God had led them out of Egypt with a mighty hand. He had routed the pursuing Egyptian armies. He had parted the Red Sea for the entire Israelite nation to walk across, in just one night. The Lord had provided them with all their needs through the years in the desert. They had also witnessed the discipline of the Lord. They had seen the earth split open and swallowed up Korah and his men who had rebelled against God.

Moses is telling them “because you have seen, you have experienced God’s goodness, therefore, love and obey God. You know that the Lord has been faithful and true. So, the least you can do is to obey Him.” God continues to be the same God. All of history reflects that He continues to be the one who provides, protects and disciplines His children.

Every one of us has experienced God’s goodness and faithfulness in our lives. From the air that we breathe, the fact that we are alive to see another day, to the innumerable blessings of food, clothes, health, talents, resources, opportunities, loved ones. For the gift of His Word, the gift of salvation and life eternal in Him. And the least we can do is to obey this gracious and faithful God.

How is your life reflecting your gratitude to God?

Lord, increase in me the desire to love and obey you, I pray.

Beyond Ourselves (Psalm 102:1-28) LOVE

Beyond Ourselves (Psalm 102:1-28) LOVE

The poorest, the most difficult person, the most ignorant convert, every single one is precious to the Lord and so is to be precious to the church of God.
