So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt. Genesis 45:8
Joseph had every reason to be angry and bitter against his brothers. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE
Joseph’s brothers had come to Egypt looking for food as there was famine in all the land. And now Joseph has just revealed himself to them. His brothers are petrified.
Joseph is no longer the young lad whom they had bullied and sold. He was in a position of great power over them. Joseph had risen to be the second-in-command of Egypt.
Now, if he did not forgive those who sold him as a slave, he couldn’t be faulted right? After all, injustice was done to him. And, that too, his very own brothers. Joseph could claim it was by his own hard work and diligence that he had risen to the heights of power in the land he had been sold as a slave. But Joseph doesn’t.
Joseph’s reliance on and perspective of God gave him a humble heart. His great attitude gave him the ability to work hard and with integrity. His faith and willingness to trust God and his timing gave him the strength to persevere.
The Bible says all things do work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). And they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, says Isaiah 40:13.
Would you choose to trust Him today and let it show in the way you respond to life?
Lord, give me the grace I need to trust you through the challenges of life, I pray.
