Each choice is a progression. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE

When Abraham followed God to Canaan, the Promised Land, he had brought Lot with him. And over time, they both prospered so much that they had to part ways. When given a choice by Abraham, Lot had chosen the land that seemed all fertile and lush, the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar. And the Bible says, Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom (Genesis 13:10-12).

However, over time, Lot moved and began to live in the city of Sodom (Genesis 14:12). And now, if you notice, just a few chapters later, Lot is sitting at the gateway to the city of Sodom, among the elders of the city. He has moved away from Abraham, to the plains near Sodom, to finally being inside the city and now is an integral part of the evil city of Sodom.

The Bible records how God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, because of the extreme evil in it. Would Lot have known that these cities were bad? Of course, he would have. Did it happen overnight? Absolutely not!

We make choices, big and small, every day of our lives. Some choices we make may seem small and insignificant. But the truth is every choice has a consequence. And every choice leads to the next, in progression. From the time you chose to wake up this morning, to the sequence of dressing up and getting to the tasks for the day, all are choices that have consequences. How much more the bigger choices of life. Where have your choices brought you today?

Lord, for courage and wisdom to make the right choices, I pray.
