Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; everyone was fulfilled. – Joshua 21:45

When God called Abraham out of Ur, he was seventy-five years old and had no children. And yet, God promised that He would make him a mighty nation with offspring as many as the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. And through Abraham and Sarah, God blessed Isaac and the twelve tribes of Israel. The Lord called the Israelites out of their bondage in Egypt. He promised to give them a land for themselves, a land flowing with milk and honey. And He did. The book of Joshua records in detail how the Lord enabled the Israelites, under Joshua’s leadership, to acquire the land of Canaan, the many battles that were fought and won, how the land then was distributed and allotted to the twelve tribes.

Through the Bible, we see how, time after time, God has proven Himself to be faithful and true. And yet, one command that the Lord gave His people was, “remember” (Deuteronomy 8:2). Remembering all that God had done for them helped them continue to trust Him for their future too.

Christians too are called to remember. Remember the many ways God has provided for and delivered us in the past. Remembering equips us to continue to ask and expect answers from God. When we forget, we give ourselves reasons to be fearful or even arrogant. When we remember and come to Him in prayer, we are confident that He always hears us (Philippians 4:19) and makes everything work together for good (Romans 8:28).

How will you regularly remind yourself of God’s faithfulness in your life?

Lord, may I live each day remembering your faithfulness in my life, I pray.

Beyond Ourselves (Psalm 102:1-28) LOVE

The poorest, the most difficult person, the most ignorant convert, every single one is precious to the Lord and so is to be precious to the church of God.
