01: Take Up and Stand

Published on Oct 24, 2024

James 4:7 -Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

To resist the devil is imperative, not a choice.

The devil is to be resisted. The Bible in 1 Peter 5:8 reminds us that our adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. And yet, Satan can be sent running by the resistance of the lowliest believer who comes in the authority of what Jesus did on the cross.

To resist means to stand against, to not give in, but to counter, to hold out against. We are to stand against the devil’s efforts to deceive and intimidate us. As we resist, we are promised that he will flee from us. James challenges Christians to deal with Satan as a conquered foe who can and must be personally resisted.

How does one resist the devil? We are to put on the whole armor of God to stand against the wiles of the devil. When we face the battles of life, we are to choose to take and put on the armor of God and stand firm (Ephesians 6:13-14). It is a not one-time activity, but a daily activity.

Is your armor in place today?

Lord enable me to choose to put on your whole armour each day.

Those who are grateful for mercy, are merciful. The bottomless well of mercy extended, should motivate and compel one to pass on the blessing.
