08: Strengthened not Sapped

Published on Aug 10, 2022

Ephesians 6:10 – Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Paul reminds his readers that every Christian is engaged in spiritual warfare.

Spiritual warfare is to stand against the devil and face the forces of evil and darkness. Every Christian faces this reality in their life. There are two essential parts to combat this battle, Paul says viz. to be strong in the Lord and to put on the full armor of God.

God is the greatest storehouse of all the power we could ever need. And yet, we can use that great resource of strength, only when we choose to rely on Him. His might does not work in us if we sit passively. The Bible tells us David strengthened himself in the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6).

The strength of a Christian is often sapped when we are focused on our own strength or that of others, on money, career, etc. It is not that we do everything and leave God out nor is it that we do nothing and God does everything. The key is to by faith rely on His might more and more and then do the work.

Is your strength increasing as you walk with the Lord?

Lord may I increasingly depend on your power and might.

God Restores: The Power of His Word

Our God is a God not just of second chances, but many chances. Getting right with God after a time of rebellion must always begin and center on God’s word. In those moments when we feel broken, lost, or burdened by guilt, it is through the Word that we find hope and healing. It is in the promises and teachings of Scripture that we encounter the very heart of God, who longs to restore and renew us.

Our Jealous God Demands Exclusive Devotion

God’s jealousy is love in action. He refuses to share the human heart with any rival, not because He is selfish, but because He knows that our very moral life depends on our loyalty to Him.
