Divinely Different

1 Peter 1:15-16 – But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy”

Holiness is more than moral purity.

To be holy is to be set apart. God is separate, different from His creation, in His essential nature and in His perfect attributes. And rather than build a wall around His apartness, God invites us to come to Him and share in His holiness, His apartness.

As disciples of Christ, we are called to live holy, set apart lives. We have been forgiven and made holy because we are made in God’s image. His grace washes and empowers us to walk in righteousness and in victory over sin — to live the free, abundant life that Jesus came to give us. Disciples of Christ are to be different from the world and also from their old selves. God’s holy presence in our lives produces in us, loving obedience to His Word, which forms His divine character in us. Holiness is to be separated from our old, common way of living and the ways of the world, available for God’s use,

As a disciple of Christ, how different is your life from the world around you?

Lord help me be increasingly set apart for you, I pray.
