Matthew 2:13-14 NJKV
God who leads and directs us through life.
Divine intervention marked Joseph’s journey when he was betrothed to Mary of Nazareth, weaving unexpected threads into the ordinary fabric of his life. Little did he know the profound impact these divine elements would have on his path. The Lord, who directs and guides His people, manifested His wisdom through dreams, guiding Joseph in crucial moments. It is interesting that after the initial revelation to Mary, the Lord appears to Joseph to guide and direct him.
After the visit of the wise men, the Bible tells us that the Lord directed Joseph. Later, when the Lord directed him to flee to Egypt, and later when it was time to return, Joseph didn’t hesitate. His unwavering obedience fulfills God’s purposes and prophecies of old.
Our God is a God who leads and carries His people on eagles’ wings. He continues to guide His people through His eternal word. The responses of individuals to Jesus echo through time. Herod’s hostility, the Pharisees’ indifference, and the wise men’s worship were some of the responses. Joseph’s immediate obedience illustrates the diverse ways people react to God’s guidance.
In a world filled with varying attitudes towards Jesus, is your response, like Joseph, I will follow?
Prayer
