Beyond Betrayal: Discovering God’s Faithfulness in Hardship

The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

Genesis 39:2

From son to slave

Joseph, the bright-eyed son with the multi-colored coat, went from being the favored son to a slave in a foreign land, sold by his own brothers. The dreamer found himself in the dungeon, for no fault of his. Just when he was reveling in God-given promises through his dreams, everything that could go wrong, did. Young Joseph must have felt lonely, confused, and hurt. And yet the Bible tells us God had not forgotten him through all his adverse situations. He was with Joseph working out the dream that He had given him.

God’s faithfulness

God continues to be with us. God was with Joshua and promised to be with him wherever he went. God was with Elijah on the mountaintop as he battled the prophets of Baal, God was also with him when he was sitting under the broom tree, depressed and ready to die. God was with Daniel when he chose to refuse the food from the king’s table and when he was in the lion’s den. This same God promises to be with you and me.

When we go through challenging situations, we tend to wonder if God cares or hears our prayers. The truth is, though we may not feel it, God is with us just as He was with Joseph. Are you feeling alone and forgotten, maybe even hurt, today? Choose to take God at His promise that He is with you, especially when you feel it the least. Would you trust God to bring healing through the tears

Prayer

Thank you, Lord, for you are with me, no matter what.

God’s presence with us is one of the comforting promise for us as His followers (Mat 28: 20b). He will never leave us nor forsake us (Heb 13:5). God is with us in all our circumstances.
