A Freedom to Choose

Luke 1:38 – “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

God sent Gabriel on the next mission. This time to visit Mary, Elizabeth’s cousin, a young virgin.

Gabriel came to say that Mary, this young teenage girl, who was excitedly looking forward to her marriage to Joseph, was going to become pregnant by divine intervention. Mary had the unique distinction of being the only one, ever, to bear the Son of God, who was to take on human form.

As unique and privileged that was, it was no easy calling. As a virgin, how would she explain herself to Joseph? What would her family and the society say? How would she face her friends and relatives? How would she live down the disgrace of being pregnant out of wedlock? These and many more thoughts must have raced through Mary’s mind, as the angel Gabriel stood in front of her, waiting for her answer.

In those precious few moments, Mary had a life impacting decision to make. Her reply was simple, humble and yet priceless. Her reply exhibited her profound understanding of who she was, in God. She knew that she was but a servant, a handmaiden of the Lord, and so, it was not her choice, but the Lord’s prerogative, to decide what happened in her life. Her reply also showcased her stupendous faith in God.

Interestingly, the Bible records that the angel left only after Mary gave her reply. God never forces His will on any one.

What is God calling you to today? Would you humbly say yes to His will, however tough the calling?

Lord may I live out this life of surrender that says, may it be unto me as You have said.

God Does Not Forget

God Does Not Forget

God does not forget. He works in ways we cannot understand, sometimes through miracles, for His Kingdom purposes. We are to continue to trust and serve Him faithfully.

Come and See

Come and See

God alone can change hearts, we cannot. We are only called to be pointers, directing people to Christ, so that He might change their hearts.

Keep A Watch Over My Heart Lord

Keep A Watch Over My Heart Lord

Pride is a very easy sin to fall into. We need to seek God’s grace to never forget, that all that we are is only because of Him.
