Jacob has a dream
Traveling away from the ancestral lands of his grandfather Abraham. Jacob is alone for the night in the desolate wilderness. He would have been going through all kinds of emotions including fear, loneliness, isolation, excitement, and more. Jacob had a significant dream that night as he used a stone for his pillow. In the dream, he sees a ladder between heaven and earth and knows God is closer than he ever thought before. He had access to heaven. He experienced the presence of God with him.
Jesus is the way to heaven. He does not show us the way to heaven but is the way Himself, and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). Jesus made it clear that He Himself is the access to heaven (John 1:51). Jesus is how heaven comes down to us and we have access to heaven. “The God of Bethel is a God who does concern himself with the things of earth, not a God who shuts himself up in heaven, but God who hath a ladder fixed between heaven and earth.” (Spurgeon).
Move from Fear to Faith
All of us experience fears of different kinds. But knowing and experiencing God’s presence with us can move us from fear to faith. Do you have access to God through the ladder He has provided in Christ Jesus? If not would accept Him right now and receive the access He provides to heaven? When the oceans rise, would you choose to call upon His name?
Prayer
Thank you, dear Lord, for the access to heaven that you give me. Help me Lord, to move from my fear to faith in you and choose you as my Savior today.
