Abraham’s Faith – Right Standing With God: Part 2

Romans 4:19-22
Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead, since he was about a hundred years old and that Sarahs womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why it was credited to him as righteousness.

As we look to the example of Abrahams faith that was credited to him as righteousness, we learn to face life with courage and yet an unwavering faith in the God of promises, who is true to His Word. Today, we look at another couple of actions that Abraham took, intentionally.

  • V20 continues but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God. The Amplified Bible says he grew strong and empowered by faith. Romans 10:17 says faith comes from hearing the message, the Word of God. Abraham gave glory to God by strengthening and displaying his faith in his God.
How is your faith today? Are you making time to intentionally hear the Word of God, to listen to what the Lord is saying to you each day?
  • V21 says being fully persuaded that God had the power to do what he had promised. Now that is the crux of the matter. Abraham knew for sure that the God he believed was more than able to make good His promise. He knew his God. He knew Him well enough, he knew what He could do, He would not do, and who He was. Abraham knew his God and His power.
    Do you?

Father, give me the grace to strengthen my faith through listening to You, through Your Word, so that I may know You more and more each day.

Those who are grateful for mercy, are merciful. The bottomless well of mercy extended, should motivate and compel one to pass on the blessing.
