After you put these clothes on your brother Aaron and his sons, anoint and ordain them. Consecrate them so they may serve me as priests.

Jesus our High Priest has atoned for our sins once and for all.
Aaron, Moses’ brother and his sons were to serve God as priests (Exodus 28:1). God called Aaron to be the High Priest and his garments were extra special. The garments for the priests were very clearly designed for beauty and glory representing the heavenly service of priesthood. God gave special wisdom and gifts to the artisans who made the priestly garments.
The High Priest had the unique task of conducting the service on the Day of Atonement, once a year. Atonement refers to the needed reconciliation between the sinful human race and a holy God. To make atonement, the High Priest entered the Most Holy Place behind the veil, to stand before God and offer sacrifices for himself and the people. He then brought the blood into the holy of Holies and sprinkled it on the mercy seat, God’s throne (Leviticus 16:14-15) to atone for himself and the people for all the sins committed in the past year.
However, Jesus the Perfect Lamb of God, our High Priest, made atonement for us once and for all, when He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice (Hebrews 9:28, 10:10,12). He has secured for us an eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12) and is our Mediator before God (1 Timothy 2:5). Jesus came and ended the Tabernacle and sacrifices.
The focus of the New Testament is on Jesus and His glory. He is worthy of all our worship and we are called to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God this is your true and proper worship (Romans 12:1). Given God’s mercy toward us, are we offering to Jesus our true worship? Would you ask God to change the areas of your life – habits, and behavior, that hinder your worship from being true and proper?

Lord Jesus help me be ever grateful for your sacrifice and increasingly offer you my true worship.
