Acts 25:10 – Paul answered: “I am now standing before Caesar’s court, where I ought to be tried. I have not done any wrong to the Jews, as you yourself know very well.
When Paul was summoned by Felix, he spoke about faith in Jesus, and judgement to come, making Felix uncomfortable. So, he sends Paul back to prison where he languishes for the next two years, until Festus comes to power. But Festus leaves Paul in prison to please the Jews.
Later, the Jews come seeking a favour from Festus, and asked for Paul to be transferred to Jerusalem. Their plan again was to ambush and kill him on the way. Festus instead brings Paul before the court, time in Caesarea. The Jews again bring strong allegations against him, but they could not prove even one of them.
The accusations and allegations were all false and fabricated. Paul on the other hand was well within his constitutional rights expecting a trial before being punished. And finally, he appeals to be tried before Caesar and Festus grants his wish.
It was not fair!
Paul had remained in prison for no fault of his, rather for the fault or failure of others. So also, some challenges we go through in life may not be our fault. We can end up in difficult situations, because of the wrongs that others do. Though life may not always be fair, God is still in sovereign control. He promises to work all things together for good those of us who love Him and have been called according to His purposes (Romans 8:28). We can trust Him.
Would you choose to trust God through the challenging and unfair situation you might be facing today?
