John 1:40-42 – One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus.

A disciple brings others to Christ.

Andrew met Jesus and decided to follow Him. His first response was to find his own brother Peter and bring him to Jesus. ‘We have found the Messiah’ a simple, yet powerful testimony, that brought Peter to Christ.

Andrew knew that he had just found the Messiah and didn’t keep that great news to himself. Whenever Andrew is mentioned in the gospels, he is always bringing someone to Jesus. In the feeding of the five thousand, Andrew was the one to bring the little boy with his five loaves and two fish to Jesus (John 6:8). Andrew along with Philip took the inquiring Greeks to Jesus (John 12:22).

It is natural for those who meet, experience, and enjoy Christ to share Him with others. Through the centuries, this is how people have come to Christ. A Peter has an Andrew who introduces him to Jesus.

Who will you be ‘an Andrew’ to, this week?

Lord help me be quick and eager to share the good news about You I pray.
