I stand amazed

And here we are
Yet another Christmas
Yet another time to celebrate
Yet another season to rejoice
Because He came, leaving all above
His glory splendor his power
To become like you and me

He was born in a manger
Where ox and ass kept Him company
Wrapped in swaddling clothes lay He
The King of glory, meek and lowly
The star shone and led the way
For wise men that came from far away
While angels sang to shepherds glory be

And yet He did not just remain a baby
But He grew in stature and in favor
With both God and with man
‘This is my beloved Son
In Him I am well pleased’
Said His Father, the Lord Almighty
And Creator of all that be

And when He lived and walked this Earth
Creation blushed when it saw its Maker
When water turned He, into wine
He healed the sick, He walked the water
He made the lame to walk
And the blind to see
What an amazing God is He

But most of all, died He
On that cruel cross of Calvary
For your sin and mine
And with His precious blood did buy
Pardon for sin and life abundant
So that, when life on Earth is done
We with Him in glory might be

And so, at yet another Christmas
Yet another time to celebrate
Yet another season to rejoice
I stand amazed in the Presence
Of this Jesus of Nazarene
And I wonder how He could love me
A sinner condemned, unclean. Do you?

Our Jealous God Demands Exclusive Devotion

God’s jealousy is love in action. He refuses to share the human heart with any rival, not because He is selfish, but because He knows that our very moral life depends on our loyalty to Him.

God Heals: On the Jericho Road

Do I have the determination and faith of Bartimaeus to cry out to Jesus for mercy and healing in my life? Do I truly believe that God cares enough to stop and listen to every heart’s cry, including mine?
