Day 8: From Disappointment to Peace

Victorious Christian Living

Lord, disappointments, discouragements are very real and we experience them almost every day. We are disappointed with our situations, with ourselves, the people in our lives and the list can go on. In our disappointment we tend to believe that things cannot get better or that life is all done and over. Especially when things are difficult, we often lose focus of you Lord and end up focusing on the challenge before us, thus becoming sad, depressed, bitter and discouraged.

Help us Lord to be able to trust you, rejoicing in you in all situations. Help us meditate, train our thoughts on you and your word. Give us Lord increasing love and reverence for your word. Help us Lord to turn our thoughts, to meditate on you and your word rather than our challenging situations. Help us Lord to trust you and remain faithful to you, waiting on you for your perfect time and will. Fill our hearts and minds with you and your peace, we pray.

Joshua 1:8 – This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Philippians 4:8-9 – Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Ponder this: Who or what is the subject of my meditation?

Those who are grateful for mercy, are merciful. The bottomless well of mercy extended, should motivate and compel one to pass on the blessing.
