The Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting. He said, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them…” – Leviticus 1:1-2

The glory of the Lord has just filled the tabernacle. The priests and people are instructed about sacrifices, worship, and holiness.
The central theme of the book of Leviticus is that God is holy, and His people are to be holy. Leviticus talks about the corrupting nature of sin and how sin separates us from God. It also provides laws and requirements for the holy and separated people of God. Leviticus shows God’s requirement of blood for the penalty of sin and His provision of a substitute.
The Bible is clear, that all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). And yet, the Bible also says, God calls us to be holy just as He is holy (1 Peter 1:16). And so, God sent His only Son to die on behalf of us or to die in our place. Christ stood in our place as a sinner and bore the full force of the wrath of God for our transgressions. As a result, you and I can stand before God, “like Christ” in His righteousness.
Holiness cannot be achieved by human nature or effort. Christ’s substitutionary death on the cross provided a way for you and me to be reconciled with God. If we accept Him as our Saviour, we don’t have to pay the rightful penalty for our sin, which is death.
Have you chosen to accept this amazing offer of life and salvation?
Lord, thank you for dying on that cruel cross for me. Help me love and obey you each day, I pray.
