“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
2 Kings 6:16
The King of Aram was a frustrated man. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE
Aram was at war with Israel. But what the King of Aram did not count on was the God of Israel, who directed and protected His people through His servant, Elisha. Time and time again, as God revealed to him, Elisha warned the King of Israel, of places to watch out for, where the Arameans were waiting to attack them. This made the King of Aram furious. He even began doubting that his own people may be traitors and leaking their battle plans and secrets.
But soon enough the King of Aram figured out that Elisha was the root of all his troubles. He had Elisha located at Dothan and sent a mighty army to capture him. The army of horses and chariots surrounded the city by night. When Elisha’s servant got up the next morning he was taken aback and petrified. But Elisha reassured him and prayed that God would open his eyes. Then the servant saw the chariots of fire that stood around them. The chariots of the army of angels who surrounded them.
Many a times, we are so overwhelmed by our circumstances that we can see that we forget the strength we have in our God. But the fact is that He that is in us, is way greater than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). We have no reason to be afraid.
Whom can you encourage with this truth today?
Open my eyes, Lord, to see that I have all that I need in you, I pray.
