Humble Dwelling (Isaiah 57:14-21) PRIDE

Published on Jul 30, 2025

For this is what the high and exalted One says – He who lives forever, whose name is holy. I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. – Isaiah 57:15

Our God is an amazing, all powerful, all knowing God.| WATCH ON YOUTUBE

He is the Creator of the entire universe. He is the one who has placed each star in the sky and calls them by name (Psalm 147:4) He is the One who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, or with the breadth of His hand marked off the heavens (Isaiah 40:12). He is the high and lofty One whose throne is the heavens and footstool, the earth (Isaiah 66:1).

Yet this awesome God, who lives in the holiest of holies, in the high and lofty places, also lives in one other place. In the heart of one who is humble and contrite. Two absolute ends of the spectrum. The amazing awesome God who dwells in the highest heavens is also willing to come down to live in the hearts of mere humans.

But, God only dwells in the heart of those whose hearts are humble before Him.

Pride is a foolish and corrupted sense of one’s personal value, status or accomplishments. It leaves room for only self. While a humble person lovingly and honestly obeys God, because he recognizes that God is the Creator of the universe and makes room for God’s will and ways.

Is yours a heart that God dwells in?

Lord, give me a humble heart and dwell in my heart, I pray.

The Lord continues to graciously warn us today from His Word and through the lives of people around us. Are we taking warning and repenting or are we rebellious too?
