Driven by Compassion (Zechariah 10:1-6) KNOW GOD

Published on Sep 22, 2025

I will strengthen Judah and save the tribes of Joseph. I will restore them because I have compassion on them. They will be as though I had not rejected them, for I am the Lord their God and I will answer them. – Zechariah 10:6

Like the other books of prophecies, though Zechariah begins with warnings to the people, it closes with promises. The Israelites had followed false Gods. Lack of godly leaders was the reason for this.

But the Lord has compassion on His people. He tells them to ask for the latter rains and He would give it to them (v1). In His mercy, God assures that He would transform His people from a flock of sheep to a herd of war horses, ready for battle. He promises that His people would be like mighty men who would defeat their enemies (v3).

The Lord promises to strengthen His people. He would bless and restore them as He had compassion on them. This blessing is for all the tribes of Israel.

God has the strength for each of us too. Ephesians 6:10 says, finally, be strong in the Lord and His mighty power. The availability of God’s strength for us means there will be opportunities to use it. We are not promised lives free of trouble and challenges. But we are promised God’s strength and His might to go through times of difficulty with His grace and come out victorious.

Are you going through difficult times? There is a compassionate God who is waiting to strengthen and restore you. Would you trust Him?

Lord, help me to rely on your love and compassion and seek your strength for each day, I pray.
