Christian life is based on the truth that God has shown us in His Word. We are to put that truth into practice. We are to live by the truth of God’s laws and obey it. God’s truthful laws are like a fence at the top of a steep cliff. They prevent us from harming ourselves and others.

When we accept God’s truth about ourselves, our needs and Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are set free from the prison of sin. God’s truth also sets us free from ourselves. Jesus helps us overcome our faults and failings that hurt others, which we are unable to overcome.

God promised, when we know Him personally, we will also know and understand the truth about Him, His world and His purposes. Jesus said you will know the truth and the truth will set you free (John 8:32).

God never does wrong, nor does He lead His people to do wrong. We are to think, speak and act honestly, even if those around us do not. It is easier to be truthful in practice if we are truthful in our thinking.

Truth is not just about knowledge but also about living truthfully. The truth of God’s Word teaches us to love God, care for others, and look after the things He has given us.

In which area of your life are you struggling to live by the truth of God’s Word?

Lord, help me accept your truth and live by it, each day, I pray.
