Compare Not (Romans 12:1-8) PARENTING

Published on Dec 10, 2025

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ, we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the other. – Romans 12:4-5

All of us have either been told similar lines or at least heard someone say it. Some of us may even be saying things like this to our children.

The Psalmist in Psalm 139:14 says, that each one of us is fearfully and wonderfully made. There are no two persons who are completely similar. Today, scientists are able to confirm with ample proof, what God in His Word stated, thousands of years ago.

Paul, in this passage of Romans, reminds us that just as the body is made up of many different parts, each distinctly different from the other, so also, each of us is different and in no way can be compared. Neither is even one of us an accident. Not in the way we look or the family we are born into nor the circumstances that we find ourselves in.

The plans and purposes He has for each one are varied and unique. Each of us is different and has a different purpose to accomplish on this earth. We have our roles to play, our very own little spots to complete the wonderful tapestry that the Grand Weaver is weaving. I cannot do what you are called to do, just as you cannot do what I am called to do.

So, compare not.

Thank you, Lord, for fearful and wonderfully making me, unique as I am.
