Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. – 2 Peter 1:10

Peter says we are to confirm our calling and election. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE

Which means that we are already called and elected. And we confirm our calling by adding to our faith goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection and love (v5-7). And the more of these things are seen in our lives, we become more like the nature of Jesus and we are being conformed to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29).

We are to confirm our calling by being more like Jesus. Jesus came to love and to serve the ones He created.  He commanded us to love God and love our neighbours. That is our responsibility and calling, our ministry.

Ministry means to serve. It is to serve God and other people in His name. And every believer is in ministry. Ministry, someone has said, is giving when you feel like keeping, praying for others when you need to be prayed for, feeding others when your own soul is hungry, living the truth before people even when you can’t see the results, hurting with other people even when your own hurt can’t be spoken, keeping your word even when it’s not convenient and being faithful when your flesh wants to run away.

Ministry is to go beyond our comfort level and love and serve, God and people. And when we love and serve, we grow to be like Jesus and then we will never stumble.

How are you serving today?

Lord, help to serve you each day in all I do, I pray.
