Then the Lord said to Noah, Come into the ark, you and all your household because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.

Genesis 7:1

God invites us into the ark of salvation.

The Lord was grieved. God decided to destroy the rebellious human race. And yet, God found one faithful man with whom He could begin again, Noah. God told Noah his intention to save him and his family and commissions him to build an ark for them. Obedient Noah faithfully labors for long years in the face of much indifference and ridicule from his friends and community. When the ark is finally ready, God invites Noah to come into the ark. Yes, God interestingly does not tell Noah to go but rather invites him to come into the ark.

Noah’s Obedience

The ark was no easy place. After over 100 years of preparation, the stint in the ark begins with a week-long wait for the rain to start. Filled with animals of all kinds, sizes, and shapes and the resultant din and smells, this was no vacation cruise. Soon enough, the flood gates of heaven open and the waters from under the earth too broke open. Noah and his family experienced frightening and long-drawn rains that would lash on the ark. And yet, through it all, the one redeeming factor was that God was with Noah in the ark.

God, invites us to come to Him in the ark of salvation. He saves everyone who chooses to believe in Him, His death and resurrection will be saved from eternal death. We are saved by His grace, not our works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus is mighty to save, have you taken up His invitation of salvation? Who needs to hear about this salvation from you this week?

Prayer

Lord, I choose your gift of salvation today.
