Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. – Hebrews 5:13-14
A Christian life is for life. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE
The journey only begins, when we accept Christ as our Saviour. There is always more to learn and heaven to look forward to. Jesus promised His followers’ inner peace and joy. These don’t come from an easy life but from the confidence that our Heavenly Father is in control, whatever happens.
Growing in faith can be an exciting yet exacting adventure. We grow in our faith and become perfect, by obeying God’s will (1 Peter 1:1416). The more we obey, the more skilled we are at understanding and knowing what God wants us to do.
Sometimes, we grow more like Jesus by applying our faith to the challenges we face. Christ promises to renew us and grow us in our faith. To grow in faith, we also need to give. Christian faith is not meant to be kept to ourselves. We have the gospel to give others, which transforms people. Only when we give in faith, will we grow in faith.
And yet, we are not meant to be “too heavenly minded to be of earthly use.” Though our ultimate home is in heaven, we are to live this earthly life with our feet firmly planted on the ground, as long as we live.
Jesus said that the christian life is a narrow path, compared to the broad path of self-indulgence. But His way leads to abundant life here and in eternity.
How have you matured in our faith in the past year?
Lord, help me increasingly obey and grow in you, I pray.
