A Reason to Sing (Jeremiah 31:1-14) RESTORATION

Published on Aug 15, 2025

This is what the Lord says: Sing with joy for Jacob; shout for the foremost of the nations. Make your praises heard, and say, ‘Lord, save your people, the remnant of Israel.’ – Jeremiah 31:7

God assures His people that He will again take them into a covenant relationship with Himself. He will save and restore His people. God promises to gather His people from all over the earth.

The people will not just return to God but also to their land. And this is no small matter, but one that warrants great rejoicing and praise.

In this great restoration (v24), Israel will return to God with tears and supplications. The Bible says in Zechariah 12:10, I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, a spirit of grace and supplication.

When we go through times of difficulties, one of the first things the enemy tries to steal is our joy. But the Bible says the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Don’t stay in that valley of despair and depression. Don’t allow what people say to control you. Maybe everyone isn’t thrilled about you. But God is. You are who God created you to be. He is thrilled about you!

When times of suffering come, it is also reassuring to remember that the church has already been there. Nothing new has come over us. And that God in his goodness calls each of us back to Him. He will draw His children to Himself, by the influence of the Holy Spirit, He will restore to us the joy of our salvation (Psalm 51:12).

Would you draw near to Him? He promises to draw near to you (James 4:8).

Lord, restore to me the joy of your salvation, I pray.
