Completely Yours (Romans 3:1-8) REBELLION

As it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. – Romans 3:10-11

The universality of sin reminds us daily that we live in a fallen world that cannot be trusted. In this passage, Paul is coming to the tail end of a careful argument. Sin and death are linked to each other. Paul declares that death is the payment we receive for sinning. And the fact is that no one is exempt. There is not one who has not sinned, not even one.

Scripture teaches that the whole human race is involved in the original sin. But no one is condemned for the sin of another. We are guilty before God because we have rejected goodness and follow our own ways rather than God’s.

Guilt is both a feeling and a fact. It is a feeling because our conscience tells us when we have done something wrong. We feel ashamed and guilty for the wrong we have done. It is a fact because God knows that we have rebelled against Him.

It is evident that the world around us, though still a good place to live, is no more perfect. God is not the priority nor is He sought after. The world is increasingly self-focused. As a result, violence, hate, self-centeredness have become the norm of any regular day. And yet, the Bible says, the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His (2 Chronicles 16:9).

Is yours a heart that is completely His?

Lord, I long to be completely yours, cleanse me and use me I pray.
