Depend on God (2 Chronicles 20:1-19) TRUST

Published on Jun 30, 2025

O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless against this great multitude which is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.” – 2 Chronicles 20:12

When in crisis, we turn to those we trust. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE

King Jehoshaphat was cornered by this huge army that was advancing in a battle against him. He was petrified. Jehoshaphat recognized his need. He knew he was weak; he knew that the armies of Judah were no match for this huge approaching army. But the beauty is, when he was in need, Jehoshaphat also knew exactly what to do and whom to turn to.

Jehoshaphat turns to the Lord as his first resort. He did not go and count the strength of his army or call a council of his ministers. He knew the Lord well enough to turn to Him in trust and that the Lord was more than able to handle his crisis.

Jehoshaphat was humble to acknowledge his need. He clearly expresses his own powerlessness and inadequacy in the situation. He is very candid about the fact that he does not know what to do

And then, Jehoshaphat fixes his eyes on the One who knows. Once he places his need before the Lord, he then clearly trusts God, with unwavering faith, to provide a solution and take care of him.

Challenges and battles in life are real in every one of our lives. We need to have our battle strategy in place. Jehoshaphat’s strategy was to acknowledge his own need and fix his eyes on the God who could help. His strategy gave him victory.

What’s your strategy?

Father, help me keep my eyes fixed on you rather than my challenges, I pray.
