Empowered to Live Out (John 15:26-16:15) WITNESS

Published on Nov 11, 2025

“When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.  And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning. – John 15:26-27

Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE

Jesus is preparing His disciples for His imminent departure. He knew the disciples would need the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to face the opposition that the world would bring. Jesus has not promised us a life without trouble, but He sure promises we can have an untroubled heart even in a troubled world.

One of the things the Holy Spirit, also known as the Advocate or Helper, would do would be, to testify and continue the teaching work of Jesus (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit would speak of and about Jesus. Everything that the Holy Spirit does is consistent with the testimony of the nature of Jesus. He tells us, shows us who Jesus is. The Holy Spirit bears witness to Christ.

Not just the Holy Spirit, but the disciples were also to, empowered by the Holy Spirit, bear witness of who Jesus is and what He did to rescue the world. The Holy Spirit and the disciples were in effect a single witness. It is the same Christ to whom they bear witness. The disciples were specifically qualified to bear witness of Jesus, because they trusted Him, had the Holy Spirit in them and He was part of their lives.

As Christians, the Holy Spirit equips and teaches each of us to live out our lives, bearing witness to Jesus.

How are you bearing witness to Jesus and reflecting the power of the Holy Spirit in you?

Lord may I bear witness to you in and through my life, I pray.
