In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. – Psalm 5:3
The Lord testified that David was a man after His own heart.| WATCH ON YOUTUBE
Was it because David was a perfect person? Of course not! The Bible records that David committed many sins, including adultery and murder. Then, what set him apart for God Himself to testify about him?
David had a powerful relationship with God. In verse 1 we find that David longs for an audience with God, basically saying Lord, please listen to me. Then in verse 2, we find David prayed to God. We often come to God so full of our own requests or feelings that we forget to focus on God and sense His presence. David’s prayer was focused on God.
In today’s text, we find a couple of pointers. The NKJV says, “in the morning you shall hear my voice, in the morning I will direct my voice to you.” It is his commitment to God. He was essentially saying, Lord, that’s an appointment, I commit to meeting you every morning to bring my requests to you.
Then David says, and then I wait expectantly. Not only will I place my requests before you every morning, Lord, but after that, I will wait, expectantly. That reflects faith. Having placed his requests before God, he knows and believes God will act. So, he looks forward to that, eagerly, expectantly to watch how God answers his prayers.
Is the Lord sure to hear your voice every morning? Do you look forward expectantly, to watch as He answers your prayers?
Lord, help me make my time with you my priority every morning and in faith wait expectantly as you answer, I pray.
