Go, Tell (Matthew 28:1-10) WITNESS

Published on Nov 14, 2025

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.  He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.  Then go quickly and tell His disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him.’ Now I have told you.” – Matthew 28:5-7

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to finish the preparation of Jesus’ body, which had been cut short by the Sabbath (Luke 24:1-3). They came fully expecting to find the dead body of Jesus. They found the empty tomb instead.

These were two women who had been there at the cross, when He was crucified. They were there when they had laid Him in the tomb. And now it only seemed fitting that these women received their love’s reward. They were the first two people in the world to be confronted with the empty tomb and know the joy of Resurrection. What an awesome privilege!

With that awesome privilege, came responsibility. The angel reminded them of the promise of Jesus that He would rise from the dead. Though this was so staggering that it seemed beyond belief, they needed to believe what they have seen to be true.

And now having seen for themselves, the angel urged them to ‘go, tell.’ That was their first duty. They were to proclaim the good news to others. ‘Go, tell’ remains the first command to the person who has discovered Christ for oneself.

Have you believed to ‘go, tell?’

Lord, help me be faithful in telling about you, I pray.
