So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. – Luke 15:20

In Jesus’ parable of a lost son, a repentant, rebellious son who wasted his life and brought shame on the family, decides to return  home. His father who saw him from a distance goes out and welcomes him home. His sin was forgiven and the family celebrates his return.

Our God and Creator of all that exists, also knows just how each of us thinks and feels. He is holy and can do nothing wrong. But we do wrong. Our self-will, self-indulgence, and self-confidence separates us from God. The Bible calls this barrier, sin. Sin keeps us from knowing God personally.

We cannot get to know God, unless we are willing to say sorry to Him and when needed, to others. We must put sin behind us and promise Him that we will not willfully go on our own again. And that is called ‘repentance’

Becoming a Christian is like starting life all over again, by handing over control of our lives to Jesus. We come to Jesus just as we are. We don’t need to try to reform ourselves. Once we say yes to Jesus, He will do the transforming.

The lost son’s return caused the family to celebrate. Heaven rejoices over every child that returns to God.

What is keeping you from handing over the keys of your life to God?

Lord, forgive me for having left you out of my life. Take charge of my life, I pray.

Beware of Unbelief (John 10:22-42) FAITH

Jesus was very clear about who He was and where He came from. The problem was the heart of unbelief that the religious leaders had, for which they wanted to blame Jesus.
