Concerning the Ammonites: This is what the Lord says: “Has Israel no sons? Has Israel no heir? Why then has Molek taken possession of Gad? Why do his people live in its towns? – Jeremiah 49:1

The Ammonites lived in the area on the east side of the Jordan River, north of the Moabites. They opposed Judah during Jehoiakim’s reign and joined in the invasion of Judah (2 Kings 24:2).
Ammonites occupied land that was given to the tribes of Gad, Reuben, and Manasseh. They lived in that land as if Israel’s inheritance didn’t matter. But to God, it was clearly Israel’s inheritance and did not belong to Ammon.
This was not just a political matter but also a spiritual matter. The Bible says Molek has taken possession of Gad. Molek is mentioned as the invader who took possession and occupied the lands. Molek or Molech was also worshipped with rites of child-sacrifice for many years.
God’s Word is packed with promises for His children to claim as our inheritance. Yet, we live as spiritually poor people, struggling to stay afloat. The Bible has promises to encourage us and direct us. Whatever your situation, there is a promise that you can claim.
Peace, love, and power in Jesus is ours as our inheritance as children of God. And yet, we often forfeit our inheritance and live in constant worry, fear, and doubt. The Bible says, be doers of the Word, not hearers only (James 1:22). Are you daily enjoying the rich inheritance that is yours in Christ Jesus?
Lord, help me live the rich life of love hope and joy that is my inheritance in you, I pray.
