When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.  But the more they were called, the more they went away from Me. – Hosea 11:1-2

God remembered Israel. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE

God loved Israel. He remembered that He had promised Abraham that his seed would be as numerous as the stars in the sky. Thus Israel was born. God remembered Israel when they were in bondage in Egypt and He brought them out with His mighty Hand. God remembered and so He brought them safe into Canaan, the land that He had promised. But the people forgot.

Israel forgot God. Soon after the Lord brought them out of Egypt, they forgot how He had led them with such mighty wonders, they grumbled about food in the desert. When God provided them manna and quail they grumbled about water. When God provided for all their needs, they still went after other gods and idols. The more the Lord provided and cared for His people, they went further away from Him.

Love remembers. Love remembers to be kind, even when the person doesn’t deserve it. Love remembers to forgive when the other hurts you.

God tenderly cares for His children, He loved us enough to buy us back from the wages of our sins, eternal death. He sent His only Son to die that cruel death on the cross and bought us back with His blood. He continues to provide for our every need. But we often forget. We forget His goodness in our lives and focus on what we don’t have. We are ungrateful and grumble like the Israelites.

How does your life reflect that you love God and remember His goodness to you?

Lord, help me have a grateful heart that remembers you every day, I pray.
