This is what the Sovereign Lord says: When I gather the people of Israel from the nations where they have been scattered, I will be proved holy through them in the sight of the nations. Then they will live in their own land, which I gave to my servant Jacob. – Ezekiel 28:25

This promise shows that God’s plan for Israel in their land did not end with the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem; nor has it ended today. Ezekiel looked forward to an aspect of the new covenant. A time of restoration when the Lord would bring His people back together again (Deuteronomy 30:3). There was still hope.
In God’s design, the Babylonian exile would not last forever. After 70 years of forced captivity, the Jewish people could go back to the Promised Land. During the days of Ezra and Nehemiah, there was a partial return.
God promised that they will live in their own land again. And that all danger and opposition would end. And as part of the new covenant promise, there was a greater fulfillment to come. And this would be just another way that God would reveal Himself to Israel and to the world. As a God who is truly sovereign and faithful to His Word and His people. This message was a source of encouragement to the people in exile.
God is not through with each of us either. However bleak and hopeless our situations may seem, God’s not done yet. Suffering is not the end; He will restore and make us strong and firm (1 Peter 5:10). He is working something beautiful, something good even through all your pain.
Hope in Him.
Lord, help me ever hope in you, I pray.
