Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care. – Psalm 95:6-7
A gentle plea to worship God.| WATCH ON YOUTUBE
The psalmist is calling the people to do what is right before God, get low before God. The psalmist calls us to bow down, to worship and to kneel before God.
The call is to bow down and worship. We are to worship God with humble hearts. God deserves our complete submission as we bow down in His presence. We are to bow down in worship before our Maker, not before a crucifix or an image that we have made.
The psalmist further calls the people to join him in kneeling before God our Maker. In the previous verses, the psalmist talked about God’s reign and rule over all of creation. And now, he includes humankind under God’s creation. He reminds us that God is our Maker, who created us. And so, we are to worship our Creator. We are to bend our knees before our God, in a posture of supplication and request.
The psalmist reminds us that we are the sheep of His pasture. There is a sense of belonging in this phrase. God personally takes care of each one of us. The redeemed have two great reasons to humbly worship God because we are twice His, once at creation and then, at redemption.
Is your heart posture one of humility and submission when you come before God?
You alone are worthy of all my humble worship, my Creator and my Redeemer.
