So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. – Galatians 5:16
Enoch walked with God. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE
To walk with God is to always have Him in mind, to be aware of His purposes and to reflect His character. To walk with God is to be willing to wait for His perfect timing. To walk with God is to walk in faith.
Abraham sets us a wonderful example of faith. The Bible says, Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness (Genesis 15:6). Abraham showed that he believed God by obeying Him and moving out to follow God to the land that was to become his inheritance.
When God told him that Sarah would bear him a son in their old age, he did not doubt it or look at his circumstances. Abraham believed God by not doubting or allowing unbelief any foot in ((Hebrews 11:8-12). Abraham’s ultimate test of faith was when God asked him to sacrifice Isaac.
To walk with Jesus is to walk by faith and truth. We walk in the light as He is in the light (1 John 1:7). ‘Light’ is God’s truth and holiness. The more we walk in God’s light; He exposes our sinful nature and shows us how to live and enjoy fellowship with Him and others.
The Holy Spirit enables us to walk in God’s ways. Our natural tendency is to gratify our sinful desires and live self-centred lives. But Paul says, we are to walk daily depending on the Holy Spirit, who dwells in us.
To walk with Jesus is to live by depending on Him each step of the way. Are you walking with Jesus, every day?
Lord, help me walk in faith and obedience to you each day, I pray.
