Beautiful You (1 Samuel 16:1-13) OBEDIENCE

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things that people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7

The Lord  rejected Saul as king over Israel (1 Sam 15:23). God told Samuel that the next king would be from the house of Jesse.  Samuel went to Jesse and asked him to bring his sons. Seven tall and strapping young men passed before Samuel. And each time Samuel thought this might be the one, it turned out that none of them was the chosen one.

When Samuel asked, Jesse said he had his youngest son David, who was out in the fields with the sheep. Samuel insisted on having David brought in. It turned out that he was the one that the Lord had chosen. And the Bible says Samuel anointed David as the next king of Israel in the presence of his brothers and the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David (v13).

People may be impressed by our outward appearance, but not the Lord. The Bible very clearly states that He looks at the heart. And the Lord alone knows the heart of each one.

A heart that is pleasing to the Lord is obedient to Him (1 Samuel 15:22). To obey Him, we need to know what He says. The Bible says, meditate on the Word continually (Joshua 1:8). The Lord found David’s heart good and right before Him.

How would the Lord find your heart?

May you ever find my heart good and right in your sight Lord, I pray.

Beyond Ourselves (Psalm 102:1-28) LOVE

The poorest, the most difficult person, the most ignorant convert, every single one is precious to the Lord and so is to be precious to the church of God.
