The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. – Deuteronomy 29:29

Moses has come to the end of his life. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE

His greatest desire was that the people he had loved and served  all these years, would continue to faithfully obey God, even when he was gone. And so, in this chapter Moses leads the people in renewing their covenant with God. Moses calls the people to obey God so that it may go well with them. He also cautions them of the consequences of abandoning the covenant.

The final verse in this chapter, however, is an unusually important verse. It simply and plainly states that the actual future of the people is known only to God. And that God’s people are to live by faith, not sight. They were to keep God’s law and leave the future to Him who alone holds the future.

As God’s people, there are things about God and the future we do not know and need not know. All we need to know is found in the Scripture. Astrology, zodiac signs, tarot cards or other similar methods of trying to figure out the future, is NOT for a child of God. We are to focus on learning, understanding and applying God’s Word in our lives. We are not to try figuring out the future. God alone holds the future. Our job is to trust Him and walk day by day with Him, in the light of His Word.

Are there practices for finding out your future that you need to confess and abandon today?

Lord, help me trust you and your Word alone, I pray.

Beyond Ourselves (Psalm 102:1-28) LOVE

The poorest, the most difficult person, the most ignorant convert, every single one is precious to the Lord and so is to be precious to the church of God.
