Which Way Now? (Psalm 25:1-22) DIRECTION

Published on May 8, 2025

In you, Lord my God, I put my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies’ triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause. – Psalm 25:1-3

David’s strategy. | WATCH ON YOUTUBE

Every so often in life, we come to crossroads. We may be confused, wondering which way to go, wanting to make the right decision and yet not sure how. When David was confused and weary, wondering which way to turn, he had a plan.

David in this psalm shows how he handles the challenges that came his way. He turns to God when in trouble. Matthew Henry the great theologian and commentator said, prayer is the ascent of the soul to God.

David displays a close and intimate relationship with his Lord. He knew the Lord as his personal God, not just some God seated on His throne far, far away.

For David, the choice was clear. The fact was, he was surrounded by enemies and troubles galore. But his strategy was simple and clear. He puts his trust in his God, whom he knew enough to call his God!

David puts his trust in God because of his relationship with and knowledge of this personal God. He knew that whenever he went to his God, he could be sure that he will not be put to shame or embarrassed. He also knew that it is true for anyone who would trust God!

David turned to God in prayer when he needed direction. Is that your strategy too?

Lord, may I know you and confidently turn to you first, I pray.
